Meet Design Builders, Inc.

Bill Douglas, President of Design Builders, Inc., started the Charleston home building company in 1991.  Bill's love for building began in 1965 when he and four high school buddies built a cabin in the mountains of Virginia.  He went on to college, where he earned degrees in Civil Engineering and Forestry, majoring in Wood Industries at West Virginia University. Bill is also a Vietnam era veteran serving his country in the US Army.  Two of Bill's three sons have chosen to work in their father's business, and his third son is a Flying Crew Chief with the US Air Force, stationed in Charleston.

Twenty years working in the fields of Civil Engineering and Construction Management gave Bill valuable knowledge and experience ensuring his success as a Custom Home Builder.

Pat Nelson, Administrative Assistant, has been with Design Builders since 2001.  With more than 20 years of experience in the publishing and construction industries, she's an important member of our organization.  Managing all accounting and purchasing functions is only a small part of what Pat does for the company.   Her talents in coordinating interior and exterior finishes (paint, cabinets and countertops, flooring, lighting, brick,  landscape, etc.) provide a valuable service in assisting you with decor-ating dicisions.      

Kevin Douglas, Project Manager,  has worked for Design Builders since high school.  His background as an accomplished carpenter gives him an eye for detail and knowledge of construction techniques that help maintain the company's objective of quality home building. Kevin studied Management at Clemson University and works directly with customers to ensure their satisfaction. 

Eric Douglas, Field Superintendent, has worked with Design Builders since 1997.  His education in Civil Engineering at Trident Technical College and his advanced carpentry skills give him a thorough understanding of the overall home building process.   His talents are particularly evident in the sometimes challenging details of interior trim, beamed and coffered ceilings, stairs and handrail systems.  When visiting your new home under construction, Eric is there to answer any of your technical questions. 

Design Builders also partners with some of Charleston's best trade contractors and material suppliers. Our goal is to build homes of exceptional quality and detail.  The company has a long list of satisfied customers and has earned the respect of not only the home-buying public, but of home designers, developers, and real estate professionals as well.
